    Omni Window Open

    0 Not allowed! Not allowed!
For anybody interested, the Omni application window is open.

HR will be at OBAP on the 29th and at FAPA job fairs on the 30th in Las Vegas this month.

First year starting pay $117 ph
    top step CA $297 ph
upgrade under 3 years and falling
new 777 freighters being added for Amazon.

We we havenít done cargo before, but they just added the manuals for cargo ops. Word/Rumor is no less than 10 and up to 13 777Fís

we we open our own schoolhouse with sims in July... no more 2am Sims in AA, Delta or Unitedís training centers.

Home based, positive space ticket to/from work and you keep the air miles
you never need a crashpad, hotels always provided. Mostly Hilton or affiliates online in the US. No imputed income gateway travel crap since youíre truly home based/home domiciled. You keep most hotel points.

Pilots average 25-45 hours of block per month. That average may change once the cargo ops start.

Right now itís 18 days. 2 of those are over ride days that you are hardly ever used because they come with hefty pay over rides that go above guarantee. So, unless theyíre jammed up, you wonít work them. That leaves 16 days.
Most lines will be either one block of 16 days straight and a smaller number of lines have it broken into two chunks.
In general, they will all be scheduled reserve days. There are a few lines with actual scheduled flying, but in general itís a reserve line. Two days (sometimes more, and rarely less) or so in advance stuff starts populating your schedule. Just plan on being at work those 16 days and your safe. If you get to stay home on long call a few extra days, great. My experience this past year has been either on day one or two Iíd get called with my travel for the next day. Iíd get deadheaded someplace, sit a day, then operate a flight someplace. Sit there a day or more, then DH someplace else, sit a day or more and then operate something.... rinse and repeat. On the last day Iíd be positive spaced home.

So, of the 16 days, the first day is your trip notification. Day 2 you DH out. Day 16 you fly home. That really leaves about 13 days to actually work. Most guys get anywhere from 20-45 hours of block per month. It also means you get up to 2 weeks (15 days on 31 day months) off all at once each month, or if you bid a line with two shorter trips youíd get those 15 days broken up too that month. With creative bidding you can take 4 weeks off without using vacation time. Weíve taken two vacations this past year, didnít pay for airline tickets, and didnít pay for hotels.

We do do a few special programs. One is classified and does require a secret security clearance, it has a higher guarantee each month of 80 hours. Three new hires from my class went into it. You will fly 80 hours. There are some special simulator training involved also. It makes first year pay $112.8k as opposed to $90.2k not including per diem.

Another program, since 2000, has been flying scheduled air service between Las Vegas and Honolulu. Itís scheduled like regular airlines with bid packs of lines and flights for the month. This month there are 5 variations. 2 broken into two chunks, 3 all at once 1 of which is straight reserve in Vegas on either short or long call all month. Yes, you get a hotel in base (itís a Hilton) and yes you keep the points. 1 line type is 4 trips for the month, 1 type is 4 trips with a 5th going into transition, and the reserve line. LAS is considered a base, so no per diem in Base. Each trip is 1 flight to HNL, a one or two calendar day off, then 1 leg back to LAS, then 1-3 calendar day on Long Call, then repeat trip, sprinkling in 30 hour breaks as needed also. Basically 6 legs all month. Easiest job Iíve ever done for ridiculous pay.

Upgrade is under three years and dropping. They just added a few 777 cargo operations manuals to our EFB and training library, and it leaked to the media that they plan to run 777F freighters at Omni soon. The rumor mill says 10-13 additional planes. So upgrades will drop even more. There is a lot to upgrading here just because of the global nature of the job, so they do take it a bit more serious than at Eagle. Seniority alone doesnít guarantee a slot. You need a check airman sign off, or three Captain recommendations. Nobody has been unreasonably denied, but in the past 3 months three upgrades opted to return to FO as things werenít going well. There is just a **** ton to know, and even more of where to find it fast stuff. That said, upgrade puts you over a quarter mil a year flying 25-45 hours a month, unless youíre in a program or volunteering.

Year three of the contract the max days drop from 18 to 17 including over ride days. Weíre about to start year two in April. This also means new hire pay increases from $113 to $117 ph. December I flew 36 hours, $11k (3 extra days) January I flew 4.8 hours, $11k (3 extra day), February, 48 hours and $18k (an extra week of volunteer reserve, didnít fly), March Iím being lazy... training days, then 8 reserve days and it will only be $8k. Yeah, $29k for the year before March even started.

There are definately worse places to work. The flying is both fun and demanding, while not being too much. Fly someplace, take a mini vacation a few days, fly or DH someplace else and repeat.

The special program out of Las Vegas that only does LAS-HNL and if you lived there youíd only be gone from home around 8-10 nights a month. Its a small base, but the FO slots have been going junior lately.

Omni is not the typical ACMI. Weíre passengers only (for now), we run under part 117 duty times unlike the ACMI box haulers that still get beat up under the old 121 rules. Youíll never get abused flying above guarantee unless youíre super senior bidding a check airman line on purpose, or in a special program with higher guarantees.

The worst reserve day here, has been better than the best day working for AMR/AAG

    Try it, youíll like it.

heres a page from the Vegas bidpack. Iím doing line 103.

I wouldn't count on more than a few 777F if any. Amazon isn't looking at the 777F and DHL only has 14 on order. My guess in AeroLogic gets 5-6, Polar gets 5-6 and ATSG(Omni) gets 2-4. DHL owns 49% of AeroLogic and Polar and zero of ATSG plus ATSG had zero slots or freedom rights unlike AeroLogic and Polar.

We are just taking delivery of our own brand new 777 sim from CAE. The 76 sim they bought used. We only have 3 777’s currently. Retired 4 star AF general is the new CFO. ATSG just recently put an Omni exec onto their Board of Directors. We’re adding new instructors, ground and sim, at a furious rate.

Junior CA now 9-2016, 2.5 years and dropping.

More spin from our latest used car salesman. If anyone at Envoy today left for a dirtbag outfit like Omni, may as well certify them as insane on the spot. Here, you have a seat at the largest major airline in the world. Why anyone would give that up period, much less for OMNI, well there are many kinds of crazy.

I understand your demented rage against anything not Envoy/AA, but are you saying Cuj is lying about Omni info ? I think heís just putting out factual info for consideration which is fair game. ďSpinĒ is what you do my little projectionist.

Facts are something Da Spooge is totally void of, or dodges with his own spin.

Am I reading it wrong, or are you off at home only 12 days out of the month?

Omni essentially has three separate groups on the 767. Home based, IAD based & LAS based. Each has its special perks. The Home Based guys get the 18 day schedule with 2 of them being Over ride days at home. So, they get 16 day schedules, 14/15 off a month. The LAS get 18 and only 1 over ride day is at the start/finish. Also, because LAS is the base, days off there can count, but must be within the 18 day footprint. IAD guys will do all 18 away from home, but with significant pay guarantee over rides.

Both IAD & LAS are small bases. The vast majority are the home based guys getting 14/15 at home each month. Next year the max drops from 18 to 17. So gen pop guys will get 15/16 days off each month.

The other thing is it’s just not like anything even close to eagle. In those 16-17 days, in Vegas, you’re only flying 8 flights. The rest is on short or long call in Vegas or Honolulu. You’re essentially on vacation. A few of the guys bring their families or friends to work, we get the in base Vegas hotel for the entire duty block. Other guys JS home on 2 or more long call days. A few live in Vegas and are only gone from home 8 nights a month. The gen pop guys might fly 1-4 or DH 1-4 during their 16 days.

QOL is very good here. Much happier than I was at Eagle commuting 4-5 times a month doing 4-5 legs a day for a company that treated us all like second or third class citizens.
Before I start that April schedule I’ll have been home 9 days over the transition without vacation. I was home (off) three weeks straight over Feb/Mar transition, again without vacation.

you also really need to keep in mind that even with only 12 days at home this month, with the transitions, it’s more like 12 days at home on one end and 14-16 days off at the other end. You also need to keep in mind the average guy flys 25-45 hours a month. As a Vegas pilot I’m at the high time end, doing 8 flights next month. We definately aren’t over worked.

I’m actually trying to get the wife to move. I’d only be gone from home 8 nights a month, and zero nights if I bid reserve.
