A lot of squawking on APC about management claims of F/O capability and something about Captain’s lack of mentoring of F/O’s. Hard to make out what’s happening. One seems to claim all Captains are requested to be Check Airman, etc. Some wacky email apparently came out today or so it sounds.
Doesn’t sound good and raises questions. Does the current CBA allow captains to be forced into CA positions ? Is there a true problem with F/O proficiency and/or capability ? You hear claims of this, but if management is raising the issue ?
.........Hmmm.

******airline captain******
as a 121 airline captain you are directly responsible for, and the final authority as to the operation of that aircraft.
The flight manual goes on to mention the captain over 700 times. Few specific items mentioned are:
-training and development of crewmembers in techniques, methods and actual day-to-day flight activities.
-counseling of crewmembers as necessary.
This means envoy, and the faa expect captains to train and coach their first officers in correct procedures and methods. We’re not asking you to demonstrate abnormal procedures durring normal passenger flights unless absolutely necessary as directed by a checklist durring a real abnormality or emergency.
Our average first officer has about 1 year of line experience. You should be prepared to take ove the aircraft at any moment, especially when near the ground.
Be vigilant, robert

Sounds like a rookie skipper almost let a new hire drive em into the dirt.
At least that’s one potential scenario.

How does this work with the “street” Captain’s that have been and will likely continue to be necessary for Envoy to feed AA’s bulldog who also may have limited experience in this type of operation ? Will nervous, pleading email’s prevent or resolve this continuing risk ?
