    The majority of those who have come to Envoy in the last few years are clueless about all of this and will run the Envoy pilot gerbil wheel as long as the sugar water tube of flow to AA is in sight. Don’t even need to taste it, just be told what it is. So focused on the mirage in the distance, they are oblivious to what is around them, but that is EXACTLY what certain powers that be want.

    An oldie but a goodie that still holds up. The problem with the new hires (pipeline and RTP) is that they donít know any better. This is their normal. I donít blame the RTP guys, itís a way to get into the 121 world but it seems like all the pipeline guys I fly with just think that so long as they can jump on a plane and go someplace for a day or two on a whim itís all good.

    The Trump Administration’s new effort at strangling Maduro in Venezuela with oil sanctions is likely to drive the price of oil back up. Already near $55 a barrel. The US Shale producers very light crude cannot fill the loss of heavy Venezuelan crude and the Saudi’s are in the process of scaling back production to trim the present market glut which would be bad news for Parker’s claims for increased profits in 2019, unless this situation is short lived. If oil shoots back up to over $70 a barrel, it would likely eat up the supposed increased revenue planned.

    Of course, that assumption is nebulous in the first place considering GDP is expected to fall this year, the economy is cooling, interest rates are rising and AA remains strangled with pilot staffing and thus little room to work its pilots even harder who are now flying Envoy schedules to 1000 hours/year. If oil prices climb and stay up and the revenue fails to materialize, the 1.5-2 billion AAG needs this year to fund pensions and service debt could make for a VERY lean year. Also considering both mechanics and pilots are demanding industry-leading contracts, it appears likely AAG will be too broke to even give either of them so much as two bits. On the good news front, it’s being reported that the jets at AA still look shiny, so all is not lost for the AA pilots at Envoy.
