Not the norm from multiple pilot’s reports, but it sounds as though the end result was the same. Instead of flying close to gauarantee for no extra pay and away from home on all but your minimum guaranteed days off, you sat in a crash pad for no extra pay away from home on all but your minimum guaranteed days off. The good news is you avoided the now common reassignments reportedly wreaking havoc among many pilots. The bad news is it’s unlikely any contractual improvements will be coming anytime soon to change the new AA atmosphere for pilots.

It seems many pilots are willing to get bent over, so why change what is working ? Maybe that is why Envoy is the way it is, that being getting pilots used to an atmosphere where they actually want to get bent over. That way, when they get to AA, they’ll be conditioned to it.

I was told they can't fly 18 days due to new rig. Only as premium.

IIRC, I think that depends on the monthly line window, the number of days in the month and the method of scheduling. In 30 day month, it might be possible to be scheduled by PBS for 18 days of flying with a maximum of 95 hours. Word has it some pilots are being reassigned up to or close to the monthly maximum (MMAX), which in some months is “FAR MAX” like Summer and holidays. Reserves can only be scheduled to the monthly maximum which is 85 hours, frequently allowing full use of all but 12 days. I think the only benefit of the new rig in this area (minimum days off) realistically only adds 1 day off to a lineholder.

I’m guessing on this number but I would expect about 10% to no show

Heard through the grapevine that AA plans to ramp up hiring substantially more then planned next year. I think they see a pilot issue developing and want to seed the field before Summer. Negotiations and a dwindling supply of pilots looking ahead. This will not be good for flows as they will be kept at minimum levels. If the ramp up to 120+ month is true and Envoy only gets 29 slots, that's a massive seniority loss over time at 24% of monthly slots or possibly less if they hire more then 120/month. Good for AAG though as the pilot shortage at the regionals is upon them and at AA it is still a ways off, so strike now while they can and minimize both problems.

My condolences to flows, but it might open up more slots to bypass the flow and at other carriers.

We cannot afford to lose more Captains at Envoy...
Guys, is time to get very familiar with “Operational Needs.”

My operational need is 30 percent across the board increase in pay, and that's only for me to give a shi+ about operations never mind doing anything. The latter requires more than 30 percent increase pay.

Just FYI. All 75 pilots showed up for training this week. Envoy pilots were just shy of 39%of the class
