UPDATE: American Airlines has ordered 47 Boeing 787 Dreamliners with options to purchase 28 more of the long-haul jets.

The 47 Dreamliners are valued at more than $12 billion at list prices, Boeing said, though big customers often get bulk discounts. The deal will make American Airlines the largest 787 operator in the Western Hemisphere.

As part of the deal, American and Boeing have reached an agreement to defer the delivery of 40 737 narrowbody jets previously scheduled to arrive between 2020 and 2022 to "better align with planned retirements of other narrowbody aircraft."

While the order is good, more Group IV aircraft, They are only replacements for 767,333 and 350. While DAL and UAL increase their fleet size AA shrinks.

As AA shrinks their fleet, the pilots retirements will help right size the airline, making it more efficient, so no need to furlough and slowing down the hiring. Maybe thatís why Dacuj was in a hurry to get there.

Approximately 10 Pilots at AA retire every week in 2018. Can you see the smoke rise over GSW complex?
