Sadly, holiday pay should always be 200% across the board for all employees.
Not ever gonna happen with the All About Greed corporate leadership.

The idea is to pay some pilots just enough to get them to cover the same amount of flying that was dropped leaving everyone else flying as normal. Itís the same old philosophy of not changing that philosophy. Same culture, same environment and just Envoy with larger jets.

The question is will it work ?

It might be for just enough to squeak by. Certain statuses tend to have more open time hounds then others. DFW is noteworthy for that, especially turns. But again, for Envoy pilots IMO, the most informative aspects of this situation for future expectation and planning will be A. Nothing has changed culture-wise toward pilots at AA, just as Envoy and so the next Section 6 in 2019 will produce tepid results for AA pilots and B. In the future, flows should understand that any truly bad situations will not result in APA job protections or contractual pursuits that mitigate stagnation for those junior when it means the rest of the group would have to sacrifice across the board for that. The old adage that "APA eats their young" is still very much relevant, so those junior in the future should expect little special consideration should unforeseen obstacles develop resulting in stagnation or worse. For the most part, the AA pilot group is about 10,000 unherdable cats (out of 14,500) led by a dysfunctional Association itself. Again, insofar as being a pilot, AA is not Delta, United, Southwest, FedEx or UPS. It more accurately resides in a gap between those top tier pilot employers and leaner LCC's like Jet Blue, Spirit and Frontier (some of whom may very well surpass AA in the future in at least QWL, if not direct compensation as well). AA is the largest carrier (for now), but don't confuse that with industry leading compensation or QWL and the future does not bode well for any true change in that area.

Is it a temporary 200% to cover the holidays or is this a permanent 200% for open time?

    Itís only temporary.
In blasts sent out by base reps there is talk that they also agreed to some other items for pilots. What they are is unknown but some think LOS (This does nothing for ex AE flow thru but raises pay for all AA furloughed pilots), Credit for a day, LTD. But will time will tell if pans out.
