Embraer and American Airlines Sign a Contract for Ten E175s
    Oct. 31, 2017, 08:01 AM

SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil, Oct. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Embraer and American Airlines Inc. signed a firm order for ten E175 jets. American Airlines is exercising its purchase rights from its original contract with Embraer signed in 2013. This new order is in addition to the one placed in April for four aircraft; is valued at USD 457 million, based on current list prices, and will be included in Embraer's fourth-quarter backlog. Deliveries begin in 2018 and continue through mid-2019.

Combined with the airline's two previous orders for the E175, this new contract results in a total of 74 E175s for American Airlines.

American Airlines selected Envoy, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group Inc., to operate the ten aircraft, which will be configured with 12 First Class, 20 Main Cabin Extra, and 44 Main Cabin seats, for a total of 76 seats.

"Because of its excellent operational performance, the E175 has proven to be the right solution for American. This repeat order demonstrates the confidence that the airline has in Embraer and in the E175," said Charlie Hillis, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, North America, Embraer Commercial Aviation. "We are proud to be part of American Airlines Inc.'s overall fleet vision and are dedicated to serving their business needs."

Including this new contract, Embraer has sold more than 390 E175 jets to airlines in North America since January 2013, earning more than 80% of all orders in the 76-seat jet segment.

Since entering revenue service, the E-Jets family has received more than 1,800 orders and over 1,300 aircraft have been delivered. Today, E-Jets are flying in the fleet of 70 customers in 50 countries. The versatile 70 to 150-seat family is flying with low-cost airlines as well as with regional and mainline carriers.

It must be terrible to live constantly boiling with such rage. Considering the blue skies and tailwinds you supposedly have now and supposedly guaranteed in your future, itís all the more a mystery why. As for such a development, itís not unexpected as Envoy is slated to eventually be an all E-175 operator, so another small arrival of them a year from now should neither be surprising nor unexpected. But, this doesnít solve Envoyís present issues of QWL, minimum flow rate or their future one of insufficient pilots. In the past, a 10 airplane order was hardly noticed, but now itís a bombshell (or so dacuj will be along shortly when you slap his hand for his turn), so I guess that shows us where the regional industry is now and where itís headed.

Personally, I think when Envoy proposes an Endeavor equivalent (or better) contract, that would be bigger news for Envoy pilots then 10 shiny jets beginning a year from now that most of them will be blocked from flying anyway as F/O slots will go to CFIís who donít even work there now and most of the 50 Captains slots to lifers not interested in the flow who will make little more money for flying them. They WILL be very shiny though and bring in more revenue for Envoy and for guys like you, that is indeed a positive, so be of good cheer.

Compass contract ends January 2020. We start taking the first of the 10 planes end of 2018 get the last of the ten by mid 2019. Then wouldn't be surprised to see those Compass birds making a move to Envoy property sometime in 2020.

Most here don't welcome more growth when our careers are being held hostage by it.....as long as QOL is in the toilets and flow is being metered growth is nothing to cheer about.

Sure would be nice to hear WHY you think growth isn't a good thing. More planes equals more new hires equals more flow. Simple as that.

How? Are you now claiming that more than the metered amount will flow? A claim contrary to what Ric has stated.

Because it does not equal more flow. How do you figure that one. Staffing has always been lacking. This is the constant claim of why we have to break contract, meter flow, or refuse to implement improvements to reserve.

Most here believe that stopping growth is the only way to maintain the contract in its intended form

I think growth would normally be a great thing, however, it just means metered flow and lack of QOL. It is good for a select few managers and CEOís but terrible for the majority of the airline

Yup, CRJ7 still leaving, from 35 in April down to 29 today. Just making room for the E75.

If that were true, then I'd absolutely agree growth is good. But in reality, more growth equals more staffing needs which equals more "denied do to staffing" from CS for everything from PVDs to RSV trades, to drops, to POs etc...Not to mention more growth equals the exact opposite to more flows. The more bodies they need here the more incentive the company has to meter (which let's be honest, no matter what happens they will always meter). Growth equals continued poor QOL and the exact same amount of flow.

    LOL !

Growth IS a good thing, but considering the future availability of both regional street captains and F/O's or lack thereof, it's not likely and in fact, the opposite is more likely, That of course, means the Envoy flow engine cannot run at full speed and even now with classes bursting at the seams (at least for F/O qualified pilots), it's idling at minimum speed. Your baseless "simple as that" declaration is the product of more delusion.

Looks like more pilots here are starting to get it.

Just about the time AA starts parking E-190s (think they're all supposed to be gone at end of Summer 2019)....park 20 E-190s, get Envoy 10 new 175s and cover the rest with Buses and 737s. Not good news for those who want to fly at AA and are currently at Envoy.
