re: Streamlining rf forms to swaps and drops

in an effort to more efficiently and accruately process
all crewmember requests, and because the majority of
crewmembers now use email to submit their requests to
crew services, all the rf forms have been modified so that
they no longer have a *send* function. Rather, they now
have instructions on how to copy and paste the form into
an email. We then collect all the email requests to ensure
they are properly processed, in accordance with the cba.

So please keep an eye out for the instructions on the bottom
of the rf forms that were recently changed.

Also, make sure you put the name of the rf form in the

I never thought Id see the day when Id be sad that RFs go away. I think this new method is even more difficult than just filling out a regular RF.

Agreed. Any confirmation that most requests are in email or is it like one of Tony G's "surveys" where they changed our contract because "most pilots asked for it"?

I'm not quite sure it was a change to our contract, just a way things have been done for decades. I hope this is more of an intermediate process and they go to another method soon - possibly completely free of sabre. This hybrid method is a bit cumbersome. It should all be 20th century or all 19th century. Not 19.5 century.

However, I believe the email method is more accurate and reliable because its just "regular" email and not SABRE RFs. I believe the process was that when you "sent" those RFs, they were not sent to an email inbox like normal emails are. It actually was sent directly to a printer down in Dallas and printed out. If there were any printer problems, jams or paper issues, your request was lost. Someone then had to go through, tear the sabre paper at each request, manually stack them and then go through them.

This process at least moves us slightly in the right decade but it looks like they still need to be printed out and sorted.

I would hazard a guess that so many requests are sent in using Quickbid they are tired of having to both check emails and check RF messages so they are going with the more popular method. Which makes you wonder how ass backwards our company is that someone can make some decent money providing us with the tools we need to pick up OT and trip trade (which ultimately helps the company). Kudos to the guy who is profiting off it but it makes you wonder why the company couldn't set up a simple windows interface over the course of an afternoon to do the exact same thing.

First request was denied because I didn't use the RF from sabre. Doesn't matter that all the information was included in the same order and correct manner. Infact the email from swaps and drops, just says the correct information needs to be sent.

Why not set up a pdf form that you can input the info then email it to them, like we do for the parking reimbursement.
Oh wait, is that using logic.
