"The flow can't be altered. It's contractual."

No doubt pilots are...well they deserve what they have. But some day we will succeed, just wait until the day we send to the negotiating table an ATP Pilot with 1,500 hours of Total Time, against a $500,000 lawyer. That day I promise things are going to change...
    "I PROMISE."

    Well, if you promise...
Than maybe, just maybe we should do away with our $5,000,000 union ans employ an $500,001 lawyer specialised in labor law...
    Just sayn'...

We already did. His name was Doug Gibbs. The company lawyers and negotiators had a field day with that moron. We got screwed by both him AND the company. Many of our a-holes are still sore from that double penetration.

Tim Jackson is an attorney (he has a law degree in family law) and pilot. He writes most if not all the language that is in our contract that is continuously violated.

Family law is not labor contract law.

Exactly. Which is why we constantly lose grievances.

Sorry, but I've heard that logic for years and it is not well thought out.....not to mention completely wrong.

First, please name one "ATP Pilot with 1,500 hours of Total Time" who was on our negotiation committee much less leading the committee. Also remember that the Negotiation Committee acts under the direction of our MEC.

Second, who really trusts a f*cking lawyer? Isn't it better to have a pilot in charge of our negotiations with the assistance of lawyers instead of lawyers telling pilots what they can or can't have?

Third, while every MEC has a labor lawyer assigned to them, when it comes to negotiation time, ALPA assigns special lawyers to assist them. ALPA National also assigns other experts in various specialities such as economics and safety.

Fourth, the biggest problem with "our" Union isn't that ALPA sucks or that ALPA National sucks, but that too many pilots think ALPA = Burger King where they pay for their Whopper and can have it their way without lifting a finger. Unions dues are only the grease that helps lubricate our Union machine. The actual machinery of any union are volunteers. Without actual pilot volunteers doing the work, nothing happens. Ask most pilots why they don't volunteer for union work and they'll give all sorts of excuses. Ask them why our union is AFU and they'll freely give their opinion.

Fifth, while ALPA National is far from perfect, going non-union or an in-house union is silly if not completely stupid. A few airlines have gone back and forth. FedEx did so. Look into their history for a better understanding. I only have 4 years or less to go, so if Envoy pilots want to go that way, it's up to them, but I think it would be a very serious mistake.

Just my 2 worth. Pilots are free to beyotch 24 hours a day without bothering to do anything about it. As previously stated, I'm gone in 4 years or less, so I've reached a point of just coasting and not really giving a shee-it what happens here. It's all up to you. Want to just beyotch or do you really want to do something about it? YOUR CALL.

Without ALPA I wouldn't have a job here right now, so I am forever in their debt. That doesn't mean that they haven't done some messed up $hit either. However, I understand the difficulty a union faces especially at the regional level. Our hand is severely tied, especially with the deck we are being dealt. I do hope for solidarity and ALPA joining forces with APA in an attempt to change the environment of this place.
