    Except for the fact that ORD continues to shrink and people FORCED out of their equipment and base can no longer get back. But it's OK. Skywest and PSA continue to grow in ORD.

    They are not Captains until they actually go to class which is what. 18 months from now?

    Meanwhile, people who have been at the company 10+ years are either sitting reserve in ORD or forced TDY to NY. FOs who live in Chicago and want to upgrade and be based in ORD cannot do so. Rapidly shrinking (closing?) base with absolute silence from the company on the subject. Yes, more upgrades are good, but they are predicted, not unexpected. Most upgrades are in NY which has some of the highest cost of living in the country, causing most people to have to commute in just to make it work.

    Just an observation. While upgrade times are coming down, there are some 9 year FOs in DFW who haven't logged a single PIC time yet.

    I had the privilege of flying a new pilot interview home. He asked me if I was happy at envoy. He told me he was offered a job at endeavor and is waiting to hear from us. Seemed like an intelligent guy. Cared more about quality of life and base sizes etc. One thing he mentioned was he didn't care about the flow. He knew many pilots getting hired at the majors without flow and he wanted a stable place to work that made to have an easy commute or a live in base possible.

    Could be wrong, but I think I read they'll open it on the 20th of every month for a few days.

    To each their own but if you want to be flying 5 legs a day and working that hard, go ahead. I'm not going to say anything bad about someone going to Southwest. But if you are within striking distance of AA via the flow, it should really give you pause.

    It's not the 5-leg days... it's 8 hour days... every day. This is a two-faced issue: People at Eaglevoy complain about unproductive schedules, but at Southwest, a 24-hour 3-day is common. With min-rest overnights. You will get your ass kicked in 3 days compared to Envoy. If that's what you like, then Southwest is the place for you. The real kicker that kept me from applying there was the 13-15 year upgrade. And guys there that I've talked to say it's not coming down any time soon. Just...no.
