I agree. But we are talking about losses from AE. Ok you've got fo's leaving to go to Middle East, jet blue, spirit, alligent, corporate, out of aviation in general. Now you've got a forced flow of 20 a month. Also aa, united, and delta picking pilots from AE. There you go that will make up the numbers. Look at how many we are now. That's not including the people hired.

Not quite 100% correct. The number was 9.6 but it change to 13.1 January 1, 2014 due to FAR 117.

    b. Only for the purpose of the furlough protection, the calculation will be based on the historical staffing number of 9.6 active pilots per aircraft.

    d. Once the number of pilots employed at Eagle is reduced to the number required for the then-current fleet (currently calculated at 9.6 pilots per aircraft but which may change in the future due to, for example, the implementation of PBS),...

That makes a lot more sense. Is the company counting the non-flying pilots in that 13.1 figure?

Well. Since April it comes out to 30.5 per month and includes 20 flows. From What I understand in 3-4 months they have been able to get 10 per month through that are still working here. (Source: newest seniority list 8 Aug. 2558 total pilots)
So we have a loss of 10 per month plus 20 more flows = 30 per month total loss. Which is what the company said we are losing back in the spring.
Keep in mind these total numbers are people on the 3U which does not include managment pilots, training dept. or people out on leave. That number is 2558 total.
If you add up the total hard lines + the total reserve list it usually comes out very close to the number in the 3U. So I think it's accurate. When I say reserve list I use the HI33 which includes relief and composite folks.

Also sometimes the number goes up a tad temporarily as people bid from position to position. But over time we are certainly losing pilots.

100 went to AA. So we have lost just 22 others.

The myth of huge attrition isn't happening. With the 140s going, we need to lose a lot of pilots over the next 10-12 months. The company is sitting happy right now; They can make this place much more hell. My money is on displacements next.
It's not a myth. That's how many are leaving. They are still hiring, but not enough to cover attrition. The classes of 2 are an oddity. Example: class right now of 12

So, in essence they are hiring 1/3 the pilots that are leaving on a monthly basis. Considering the true shortage isn't anywhere close to peak, AAG management had better have a pretty impressive ace card up their sleeve.

I think there are a few that just live in base and there are some old guys that just want a flying job/ military that will get picked up quick at the majors. If you look at the new Aug. 8 seniority list it looks like an average of 10 per month . I heard they hired double that but some quit or didn't make it through.
