I had the opportunity to ride up front on a Republic American Eagle 175 the other day. It was my first time in the 175. I was impressed with the 175. I will admit, I was a little jealous. The 175 is a really nice airplane all the way around. Sometimes I wonder if we made the right decision voting NO, but after talking with the crew, the FO told me he is currently getting paid $30 an hour(He came from PDT). FO's top out at $36. That is ridiculous. An airplane that size and the FO is only getting paid $30? It made me feel proud to vote NO. It reaffirmed my vote and future votes. NO CONCESSIONS!!

Hey what's our first year pay again? 25 an hour?

He was not first year. It would be 2nd year pay, their 1st year is around $23. The captain said their giving a $12,000 bonus to sign new hires. You would actually take a pay cut the 2nd year. They are capped at 4th year pay at $36.
Remember they are flying a 175 not a 145.

Point being if we had 175s we could have first year FO flying it at 25 an hour. What are we giving, 5k sign on bonus? So our first year guys get paid less? Also remember we've been flying crj 700s for years under the same pay scale. I'm not saying republic is better, they aren't. But don't act all high and mighty because the FO was getting paid 30 an hour to fly a 175 when we have FO getting paid 25 an hour to fly crj700. We are all underpaid, just we make a few dollars more an hour than some regionals.

I agree with you, we are all underpaid. Again, you keep pointing out 1st year vs 2nd year, but that's not the point, just compare apples to apples. Our 2nd year is $34.91. I'm not being all high and mighty. I'm just pointing out information and that I don't want to take concessions for bigger airplanes.

Agreed. Supports the timeless adage "my $hitty regional is better than your $hitty regional"
